April 2026: Presence, Performance, and Team-Based Health

April brings a shift into action. The energy of spring is fully present—longer days, more activity, and a natural pull toward performance and growth. Whether it’s getting back outside, training more consistently, or re-engaging with goals set earlier in the year, April is about execution.

This month’s theme is inspired by Eleven Rings by Phil Jackson, a book centered on leadership, mindfulness, and the power of team dynamics. While it’s rooted in basketball, its lessons apply directly to health: the best outcomes don’t come from isolated effort but they come from alignment, awareness, and consistency across all areas of life.

1. Chiropractic Review: Your Body as a Team

In high-performing teams, success doesn’t come from one star player; it comes from coordination. Each part has a role, and when one area is out of sync, performance suffers.

The same is true for your body. Your muscles, joints, and nervous system are constantly communicating. When movement is restricted or stress is high, that communication breaks down. Compensation patterns form, and over time, those patterns lead to discomfort, decreased performance, or injury.

Chiropractic care helps restore communication within the body. By improving joint motion and reducing interference in the nervous system, we help each “player” do its job more effectively. But true health requires more than adjustments, it requires daily habits that support the whole system.

April is about getting your internal team working together.

2. 📖 Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success by Phil Jackson and Hugh Delehanty
Eleven Rings is a reflection on Phil Jackson’s career coaching championship teams, blending mindfulness, leadership, and performance psychology.

Health connection for April: Peak performance is not just physical, it’s mental and emotional. Jackson emphasized presence, trust, and system-based success over individual effort. That same approach applies to your health.

Key takeaway: “Good teams become great ones when the members trust each other enough to surrender the ‘me’ for the ‘we.’”

In your health, the “we” is your habits—sleep, nutrition, movement, mindset, and recovery working together. Amazon link

4. 5 Factor Health Challenge: Train Like a Team
This month, focus on alignment across all five areas:

Eat: Plan your meals at least one day in advance, 3 times per week.

Sleep: Wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends.

Train: Schedule your workouts like appointments—minimum 3 per week.

Think: Start your day with 2 minutes of stillness before checking your phone.

Connect: Train or walk with a partner at least once per week.

Consistency across categories is what creates momentum.

5. 📅 Workout of the Month

 Workout: 18-Minute Team Builder

This workout is designed to be done solo or with a partner, emphasizing steady effort and accountability.

Set an 18-minute timer and complete as many quality rounds as possible:

  • 10 Push-Ups
  • 12 Bent-Over Rows (dumbbells or bands)

If with a partner, then alternate movements or hold each other accountable on pacing and form.
